I'm a Seattle-based Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I see clients through Modern Therapy Seattle, the group practice I founded and run, and I spend the rest of my working life teaching, speaking, consulting, and building courses and programs.

The subjects have changed over the years — sexuality, queer life, nontraditional relationships, erotic countertransference, professional misconduct, burnout among helping professionals, and now the strange, fast arrival of AI into people's intimate lives. What hasn't changed is the shape of the work: someone needs to say the awkward part out loud, accurately and without panic, and then make it workable.

That's true in a therapy room, in a CE session full of clinicians who have never been asked about attraction to a client, in a hospital where nobody brings up sex with patients, and in a company trying to think clearly about what its product does to people's attention and relationships.

I'm direct, curious, sex-positive, and genuinely hard to shock. I like precision — including about what I don't know. Where research is thin, I say so. Where a program is still being built, I label it as being built.
