Radical Acceptance, Radical Authenticity
My name is Kate, and I’m a mental health counselor practicing in Seattle, Washington. I work with adults, children, couples and families.
Hello there! Thank you for visiting my website. I’m excited to tell you more about my practice, because the work that I do is the most rewarding part of my life. I enjoy working with people who are making a transition in their lives, sometimes this transition is the ending or beginning of a relationship, moving to a new city, or finding a better job. I like to see transitions as opportunities for people to fulfill personal greatness; although they can be very difficult, but they are also opportunities for growth.
One of my specializations is helping people date. What does this mean? I help people look at the beliefs and ideas that they have about their love life that might be keeping them from finding happiness and success in dating. After we’ve gotten over these roadblocks, I use creative visualization and mindfulness techniques to draw that special someone into a client’s life. I’ve seen it work for a number of people, and I wholeheartedly believe these techniques can work for you too. On the other side, I also guide people through the feelings of grief, loss, and sometimes anger that accompany a break up. I also work with people who have alternative sexual or gender identities. I am poly and kink friendly.
I see a lot of creative people in my practice: musicians, artists and designers. I think this is because I am an artist myself; I understand the creative process and I also understand how being a creative or artistic person can make you feel very different from “the norm.” But the great thing is, what makes us different makes us beautiful; I aim to bring the message of acceptance and support to everyone who walks in my door. My other focuses are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and trauma recovery, grief and loss, end of life therapy, and helping people reconnect with their creative selves.
I offer free fifty minute consultations to potential clients, if you aren’t sure if you want to pursue therapy and want to give it a try, or don’t know what to look for, or need help figuring out where to look. I’m thankful for the opportunity to help, so send me an email or call if you would like to set up your appointment.
My favorite part of my job is being with people when they make some of the most important changes in their lives. Helping bring humor, acceptance, and love into my clients lives is incredibly rewarding!
Please feel free to look around and send me an email on the contact page if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
